building blocks for utopias

clock

a childhood dream: clocks that spin faster than time. do they make the time accelerate? it feels like. a small aesthetic piece for myself. simple and easy to grasp…

this piece is part of my ongoing series about hacking consumer goods. in some aspects, the seven mile boots also fit into that scheme. recently i worked with a vacuum cleaner. appropriation of consumer goods references to changes in the consumer/producer relationship. i firmly believe that we have rights as consumers that extend the rights of the producers – and these rights need to be ensured and exceeded. digital right management, the dmca, region codes and loss of warranty are hindering people from fully experiencing the technology they own. that has to change.

installation (antique clocks, motors, electricity)
